  • Summer Breeze

Thanks again for the great advice.  40 days after the first cut (pic below). Sudex is 5-6 ft tall in most areas. The peas have made a good second showing too.

  • Quick to sprout

Has a new septic put in. Yard is sandy and shady. 2 landscapers said there was no grass seed they could recommend that would grow under those conditions.
In 3 days the crab grass had sprouted. This is day 5 and it is coming in nicely. Very pleased.

  • Persister Bromegrass

"So far we love it. I will know more this time next year when the 30 acres we just planted with it and the Brome has been established. The cows prefer it 10 to 1 over the novel endophyte fescue."

  • Compaction and Weed Suppression

We used this mix on a new area we were turning into a garden that was just grass before.

We tilled the area and formed beds and then planted some radish before this. Our compaction depth, we use a compaction reader, in this area was only 2". After our harvest we used this mix and let it grow to just flowering stage. We crimped it down and put a tarp over it for about 3 weeks. Raked the dried debris from the rows we had formed before seeding to use as mulch in aisles and the soil came out with a 6" depth before we hit compaction. Soil crumb was amazing after just one cropping. It also was beautiful while growing and visitors to our farm loved it.

  • Quality

We were able to transition all animals from grain to grass fed only due to high quality pasture. Persister is prolific. Cut hay 4 times this year. All animals love the taste and body scores are great. Your photo above is from our field.

  • This surge is incredible

"This surge is incredible. We are grazing it for the 5th time (Mar 15) and have no seed heads."

  • We are well pleased

I didn't expect to get much out of the Gaucho the first year, but we did. You guys told me what I needed to do and I tried my best to do exactly that. Field was worked and cultipacked. You said I needed to be able to bounce a basketball on it and it was there when we seeded. Seed laid for two weeks with no rain, then came up good. It was mowed with a mower for the first few weeks of establishment to keep the weeds down and encourage the bermudagrass to spread. We are well pleased with it so far. Customer that bought it last year are coming back for more and are very happy. I have goats and I've fed them everything from alfalfa to junk and they eat this bermudagrass better than anything. It was cut for small squares (50lbs). This is well over 6 tons per acre for three cuts!

2019 Yield (Establishment year): Cut 1- 85 bales per acre, Cut 2- 50 bales per acre (Armyworm invasion reduced yield by ~50%)

2020 Yield (As of late June): Cut 1- 122 bales per acre, Cut 2- Pictured

  • Amazed by the Balancer Mix

I'm amazed at the clover specifically in this mix. It is uniform throughout the field. It's the only thing I was worried about, but it came in great. The orchardgrass and fescue is there also. I cut one cut this spring and cut it high to protect the new grasses-specifically with orchardgrass in mind. The mix looks good and I get a lot of questions about it from people passing by. If I were re-doing any pasture or hay ground, Balancer Mix is what I would use.
